We’ve been providing you with tips and tricks on how to prep your furnace for cooler days, but how do you know when issues with your furnace require professional assistance? There are a few main concerns that should spark you to pick up the phone and call your HVAC technician. These symptoms include the following:
Your system runs for a few minutes at a time and then shuts off. This is referred to as short cycling.
Flu like systems are chronically affecting you or your family members. There may be gas leaking into your home and you do not realize it.
Burner flames are uneven or leaning to one side or the other. Uneven flames call for a heating professional.
Obvious noise in your forced heating system. While a little noise isn’t completely out of the ordinary with hot water or steam systems, you should not be experiencing this otherwise.
Build up of soot. A properly maintained furnace should not build up soot. If found anyway, professional assistance is advised.
