Anyone who suffers with allergies knows how miserable some days can be. Allergens can cause a number of health issues including sneezing, a runny or clogged nose, and congestion. It can even lead to asthma. Ensure that your home is a place where you can relax comfortably by eliminating or reducing allergens. The following tips will help you reduce the number of allergens that enter your home and negatively affect those that are already present. See the following:
Keep doors and windows shut as often as possible. We understand that you will need to air the home out every once in a while, however when you do so you are letting outside allergens infect your space. Pollen can also travel through screens so try to keep your windows shut as often as possible.
Control the humidity level in the home. This will limit the growth of mold. If you have a basement, consider purchasing a dehumidifier to control humidity levels. Also, cleaning your homes’ bathrooms, basement, and kitchen regularly will help limit humidity.
In the bedroom, encase your mattress and pillows with allergen-impermeable covers. This will protect you from dust mites and ensure you have a good night’s rest.
Lastly, consider installing a whole house air filtration system. If you do not have sufficient funds for such a project, it is important that you change your HVAC filters every month. This helps to trap the allergens before entering the home.
