AC & Heater Repair in San Antonio

Secrets to Getting Your A/C Ready for Summer

When a really hot day of summer rolls around, that last thing you want is to find that your AC doesn’t work. During the months that you don’t use your air conditioner, it’s only inevitable that dirt, debris, and leaves can get caught inside. For this reason, it’s important to call your local HVAC professional for a springtime maintenance tuneup.

With temperatures already spiking in San Antonio, don’t waste another minute! Now is the time to get your AC system working properly. As your local HVAC expert, we’d like to share 3 secrets when it comes to preparing your air conditioning:

Clean or replace filters. Often the easiest and most important step. Your furnace or air handler should be replaced twice a year or when you start to notice a buildup of dust. Imagine all the dust you would recirculate into your home if you skipped the cleaning!

Clear out leaves and debris. You’ll want to scoop leaves and debris out of the base of the condenser, especially if your home is surrounded by trees. Your HVAC expert will vacuum out the blower’s fan blades and tighten loose bolts that mount your unit. Are shrubs obstructing airflow through the condenser unit? Time to cut them out of the way.

Check the coolant lines. Refrigerant tubes that run from the evaporator to the condenser outside your house should be covered with a foam coolant line insulation. And if they’re not, it’s essential to replace it to prevent the loss of energy.
