HVAC Safety Tips

Clear your vents. Take a quick walk around your home and make sure your vents are clear. If you notice that they are covered by dirt and debris, take a little time to clean them. Skipping this step can cause potential health issues overtime, especially if you already suffer from allergies or asthma.

Don’t leave all your heating on. Not setting the proper temperatures can be dangerous. For example, your furnace can always be set to run, but know that your space heaters or even your air conditioning should only be kept on while you’re at home.

Look out for leaks. It’s well known that water and electricity are not a good combination, so make sure you don’t have any leaks within your HVAC system. If you do see signs of leaks, all your local HVAC technician to come take care of the problem, as electric shock can be possible.

Set up smoke detectors. Along with your carbon monoxide detector, make your smoke detector a part of your HVAC safety as well. Test them at least once a month and replace batteries as needed. Such maintenance can protect you from serious injury.
