AC & Heater Repair in San Antonio

Saying Goodbye To Summer

The San Antonio heat will be around for another few months, but it is never too early to prepare for cooler weather. Your home is your greatest investment and it is your responsibility to make sure you are getting the most out of it. Whether it is summer, spring, winter or fall, your home needs specific maintenance to make it through the season.

Weatherproofing
As the temperatures begin to drop, you want to make sure your home is still running as efficiently as it was over the summer. If you neglected to weatherproof your home in May or June, you weren’t being very efficient, but it is better late than never. You should start by taking a trip to the local hardware store. While there, look for some caulk, a caulk gun and weatherstripping. Take your new toys and start applying them to the cracks in between windows and doors. This will lock in that warm air that your heating system is working so hard to produce.

Furnace Maintenance
Your furnace needs the same type of maintenance that your air conditioner does. You have to change the filters, remove debris and call in a professional to ensure your unit is running smoothly. San Antonio isn’t known for having much of an Autumn, but anyone who lives here knows we aren’t a 12 month warm weather city.

Remove Portable Units
In the next month or two, it would be smart to remove those window cooling units. Be sure to remove the insulation carefully and if there are no rips or tears, feel free to use it again next year. The most important thing to remember is to store your unit in a safe place. Air Conditioners can be expensive and it would be reckless to leave the unit where something could land on it. To be safe, wrap the unit in bubble wrap and give it it’s own place in your storage area.
